Australian Open 2003
Daniela crashed out in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. She was playing Venus Williams who although hadn't dropped a set in the tournament prior to this match, was clearly not in form.
"I think Venus came out today playing unbelievably," she said in her defence. "I think she had to play one of her best games today to beat me." One Australian news website had commented, "she has got to be kidding."
It was a disappointing match for Daniela, her serve was not strong enough and she lacked movement around the court whilst returning Venus' service returns. She clearly looked uncomfortable on the net and needs to work on this aspect of her game. |
